I have taught pretty much every subject within social studies, including 7th grade civics, 8th grade US history, high school world history, as well as AP Government and Politics, Macroeconomics, and Human Geography.
I'll admit, I do like to lecture. I almost always lecture from a powerpoint which includes pictures and graphics. I like to embed short reading and writing assignments throughout the lesson, and include a culminating activity at the end. This allows for a good mix of lecture, question and answer interaction, and individual and group assignments.
I am honored when I ask students how they are doing, and they open up to me and share their life experiences. I am honored when I see them understand something for the first time. I am honored when they come ask me for help when they aren't working at their full potential. I am honored when I hear students say that something they learned in my class helped them in their lives.
In have a B.A. in Criminology from the University of Florida.
I grew up in central Florida and attended the University of Florida. I started teaching middle school kind of by default while looking for something in my field (criminal justice), but fell in love with teaching. And summers off.
