TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach 5th and 6th grade Language Arts & History. This is my second year teaching at a small school in Richmond, Virginia. In the past, I taught Language Arts to 7th graders and Advanced 6th graders at a middle school in Franklin, VA. I also student taught the most amazing 5th graders at an elementary school in Lynchburg, VA. I credit them for giving me a passion to teach!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My greatest desire as a teacher is for my students to fall in love with learning. I believe in order to successfully do that, I must have high expectations for each of my students, I must be consistent, and I must develop meaningful, personal relationships. I strive to meet every student where he or she is at, and show every student all he or she is capable of doing - which is a whole lot!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Liberty University. I am currently pursuing my Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Reading Education - at the University of Virginia.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am in love with my Creator. I am married to a teacher, Dr. Kendall Nicholson. I have an incredible little bear (Bouvier des Flandres), Hugo. And, at 24 years old, I cannot imagine doing anything else but teaching the twenty-eight little hearts and minds that come into my classroom each day. Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. I John 3:16-18 - This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother and sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
