TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm beginning my fourth year of teaching. I've taught middle school and high school math the past three years, but this year I'm switching to all English because I'm also certified in English and journalism. I'm the newspaper adviser and am very excited to teach English this year.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to go over lots of examples and notes and then give them time to work in class. I try to incorporate games and hands-on activities as much as possible while applying the lesson to real-world lessons.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My high school newspaper staff won the Sweepstakes Award in their division at the state newspaper contest. It was the first year for the school to have a newspaper so it was very exciting.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I completed my bachelor's in journalism and broadcasting with an emphasis in public relations and my master's in mass communication both from Oklahoma State University. I then worked in public relations for a few years while working on becoming alternatively certified to teach in Oklahoma.
