I have 29 years of teaching experience in the Ohio public school system with a Master's degree in Music Education. I have 45 hours of college credit beyond my Masters in subjects such as The Kodaly Method, Suzuki Method, English as a Second Language and Orchestral Conducting. I have taught at all levels but have spent the majority of my career at the elementary and middle school levels.
I believe in active learning in that you learn best by doing. I use sequencing and scaffolding techniques to help students learn more complex concepts and skills. I work hard to model not only the skill to be achieved at the end of a lesson or unit, but also how to sequence the steps needed to achieve and what each step looks and sounds like.
