I have worn many hats in the world of education. I have braved the world of preschoolers and Pre-k, substituted from littles to teenagers, and assisted 5th graders as a Reading Interventionist. I have been a homeschooling parent teacher for 10 years now. For the past 2 years, I have visited China in the early hours of the morning, from the comfort of my home office, to teach English to my students there.
As a teacher, I prefer to present lessons as an experience so that emotion is connected with the information, causing the desire to learn to be a way of life. I also like to center academic subjects around reading.
With my current company, we have the ability to receive up to 5 apples from parents as positive feedback. For over a year now, 100% of my parent feedback have been 5 out of 5 apples and most of their comments say how much their child enjoys my class and personality. As an independent contractor, my schedule is always full (which is an honor in itself that my students choose me, out of thousands of other contracted teachers, to help them further their English skills).
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education (with an emphasis in Early childhood ages birth through 8th grade). As a current ESL teacher, I have received certificates for teaching different levels of English as well as a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) certificate.
AlphaBeginnings was born out of a need I had as a Pre-K teacher to saturate my classroom with the letter of the week. In addition to teaching, writing, and creating, I sing/write music with my husband. It feeds my soul. I hope you do something everyday that feeds your soul, too!
