I have six years teaching experience in first and second grade at Title 1 schools in Florida and Illinois. I served as a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports head coach and received numerous professional development trainings in all core subject areas as well as Kagan Systems and Structures. I also am the grade level team leader and collaborate with other teacher on the instructional leadership team at our school site analyzing and discussing teaching practices and student assessments and data.
I believe that excellent teachers have classrooms that are interactive, positive and respectful, where students are actively engaged in the curriculum. I design creative lesson plans, accommodating multiple intelligences and incorporate cooperative learning using Kagan structures. I find collaboration and small group work among children produce both academic and social success for young learners.

After graduating from public school, I attended Florida College, a private institution in Temple Terrace, Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (ESOL endorsement) with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Besides teaching primary school, I have a passion for baking, home decorating and travel. My travel buddy is my husband of 5 years. Though there are no children in our family, I have enjoyed saying I have 20 kids whenever asked and then explain that my students each year steal my heart.
