I have worked in private, option and public schools; I have used different curriculum sets at each one, and created supplementary materials for each one. I have taught special education for a range of needs, including Autism, Emotional / Behavioral Disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I have also have 4th,5th, and 6th grade experience. I have taught in a spit classroom; a 4/5 split. I currently teach elementary 6th grade homeroom. I have a highly diverse / multicultural classroom which we greatly value! When first teaching I taught special education for EBD at an out of district placement school. Most of our learning was Social / Emotional Learning, which is where many of my resources come from. I also love turning lesson reviews into group games, so there are lots of fun activities for multiple disciplines here!
Relationship-based, heavy SEL focus in the classroom, project and expeditionary learning - learning needs to be FUN for kiddos to want to become engaged to dive in! We are creating the future democratic citizens we want to see being helpful, not hurtful to society! Every student deserves to feel believed in, and receive all of the resources and support they need.
