After graduating Louisiana State University with a masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2012, I jumped into teaching third grade gifted. This will be my sixth year teaching third grade gifted students. I have also taught a combination class of third and fourth grade gifted students. My experience has helped me grow as a teacher and learn ways to be more effective in the classroom.
In a world where standardized testing claims hold of classrooms sometimes killing the creativity & excitement, I balance a world of standards based instruction with high expectations for all with a whole lot of FUN and love. My students push me to make learning more engaging, because THEY deserve it. I love problem based learning and I really stress critical thinking skills in my classroom. I work with my students to help them become problem solvers both as individuals and as group members.
2016-2017 Teacher of the Year Louisiana Department of Education Content Leader
I attended Louisiana State University for both undergraduate and graduate school. I have also obtained my gifted certification.
Teaching is my passion and hobby as well as my career. I love to talk with other educators about classroom ideas and instructional strategies!
