This is my third year teaching the Elementary Level in a public school and I'm loving it! I've taught art to all ages at stay away summer camps and carry that experience into the classroom. Outside of the classroom I practice hobby photography of Great White Sharks in South Africa as well as community outreach programs about sharks and conservation. I've recently started an organization "sharkservation", which connects the public to sharks through my hands on, real life experiences.
I like for lessons to be structured and guided however I think it's so important for students to be able to have freedom of imagination in the art room. I often include options for colors/styles to allow students to make unique, custom artwork. Although I allow students to complete artwork with their own twist, I always expect neatness and effort.

My love for education began where I ended up, elementary school. I have always loved learning which lead me into education as a career. I was selected for a talented art program in grade 5 and again in grade 8 which prepared me for art courses in high school. I attended Rowan University for a bachelors in Art Education graduating in 2011. I was lucky enough to student teach with a wonderful mentor who was retiring and happily stepped into her shoes upon her departure.
I like to mix traditional art history projects with new techniques and materials. If kids are having fun, they create awesome work!
