TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am excited to start my 12th year of teaching. My first nine years were spent at Alvin Dunn Elementary in San Marcos, California. This school was filled predominantly second language learners. This is where I learned a lot of core teaching strategies. I have centered my career on the primary learner, focusing on kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade students. Currently I am teaching 2nd grade at Discovery Elementary and loving it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I really enjoy working with second language learners. I enjoy to incorporate lots of visual tools and interactive language play. Use of music and chanting is also one of my favorite strategies to help my students fully understand the core content.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2010, I was selected as "Teacher of the Year" for my work with second language learners. In 2011, I successfully wrote a grant through the CLOROX company that garnered our school $50,000 for technology improvements.
