I grew up in a home where education, especially reading, was highly valued. My mother is a teacher so from a young age teaching became a desire for my life and I loved assisting in her classroom at special events and any opportunity that I could. I graduated from Indiana University with my degree in elementary education. I did my student teaching in a 5th grade classroom and I loved it :) When I graduated however there were no teaching jobs available in the county where we lived but anxious to get in the classroom I took a position as a prime time aide in kindergarten. That was a busy (crazy :) year but was a great stepping stone I feel into teaching. I later moved to a new area but the school year had already began. I became very active subbing and filled in for 2-long term leaves (both 3rd grade). The principal that I primarily worked at was anxious to hire me for the next year. It was a dream come true :) That's when I found out I was pregnant with my first son...which became a far more important dream than teaching. My oldest son is now 6 and has two little brothers who are 3 and 1. I have done some subbing here and there since that time but have been blessed to be a stay at home mom. My husband has been a youth pastor for 11 years and is now senior pastor at the Journey Church, a church plant here in Marietta Ohio. Working with teens and pointing them to the amazing restoration through Jesus is my passion. Throughout my years of working with teens I have developed many lessons and ideas that I can't wait to share with you :)
I believe learning should be an encouraging, and fun experience for students and enjoyable to teachers as well! I like lesson plans to be practical, adaptable and inspire students to learn more.
