I am an 8th year teacher who loves her job! I have taught every subject area in fifth grade and have even added sixth grade Social Studies to my repertoire. My favorite subjects to teach are...well, all of them!. In years part, I taught in an inclusion classroom and am now a Reading Interventionist for students in grades 5-8, so I strive to meet the educational needs of all my students to the best of my ability.
My room has been described as organized chaos (at times). I love to use centers and learning communities in my classroom with hands on activities, but I also see the need for individualized/independent working time as well. I also love to use Whole Brain Teaching (credits to Mr. Chris Biffle for all those ideas) with a little personal spin.
I was voted teacher of the month in our building for my work preparing students for the state writing exam.
I graduated from Pigeon Forge High School 11th in my class in 2005. I received my Bachelor's degree in Human Growth and Learning, Elementary Education K-6 from Tusculum College in 2008, my Master's in Curriculum & Instruction from East Tennessee State University in 2009, and my Educational Specialist degree in Administration & Supervision in 2010 from Lincoln Memorial University.
I am married to my best friend who loves my job as much as I do and helps me plan things for my wonderful students. We welcomed our first child, a little handsome boy named Jayke (pronounced like Jake, but spelled differently to honor my husband's grandfather, Jay) into our lives in November of 2013. I personally enjoy time on the lake & camping, on a four-wheeler, at the beach, and anywhere I can listen to my music...and of course, with my Little Handsome Monkey.I love cooking, baking, and scrapbooking...and you can most always count on me to be working on a crochet project or two in my spare time. I am a true Southern girl who lives an extremely blessed life.
