TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am in my seventh year of teaching Spanish at the high school level. I have taught levels 1, 2, and 3 over the last six years. Currently, I teach Spanish II and Spanish III. At my school, I am an active member, and have been facilitator, of the Professional Learning Community team that coordinates collaboration for the faculty.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My goal everyday is to have the students talk, read, and write about whatever topic we are discussing. I try to incorporate many communicative activities to put the language in practice. I also believe that kinesthetic activities are successful in imprinting vocabulary and simple grammatical structures in their head.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I finished up my time there in Granada, Spain studying the language and culture there. I also have a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a mother of two and married to a teacher. My husband and I spend much of our free time talking about classroom instruction and educational theory. We take pride in our lessons and what we do each day. With our children, we enjoy reading, playing outside, dancing and listening to music, and going to the zoo.
