I have been in education for 18 years. The majority of those years have been in kindergarten. I have taught special education at the kindergarten level with children that have been diagnosed with Autism. I also spent several years teaching in a Therapeutic Kindergarten fostering resiliency in children experiencing violence. I am currently a teacher in an all day regular education kindergarten classroom.
My teaching style is definitely one the teaches to the "whole child." I believe all areas of a child's development are important. I have a very creative classroom and encourage participation and involvement. My overall goal is to create an environment that is emotionally "safe." I believe only then will you get each child's best.
I have been up for "Teacher of the Year" four the past six years in the Brandon Valley School District. I have been the runner up finalist two those years.
B.S. from South Dakota State University 1989-1992 M.A. from University of Colorado 1995-1997 ( I was hired by the University to create a curriculum with a grant called ECE-Cares, a curriculum to create resiliency in young children experiencing violence).
