I've been teaching for thirty years and enjoy the new challenges and learning each year. I've taught in the Early Childhood grades primarily and love the joy young children have in learning. I've written curriculum for our county, trained teachers in balanced literacy, writing and math, and mentored new teachers.
My teaching style is a very integrated with many opportunities for reading and writing in all content areas. I believe in a rigorous curriculum presented in developmentally appropriate ways so that children get the concrete, hands-on learning that they will build on and develop into a strong foundation in all academic areas. My style involves the arts with music playing throughout the day to help create a calm learning environment, many opportunities for children to express their ideas, knowledge and experience in art and other ways, and to give students time to discuss and learn from each other.
