I have been teaching for 13 years in a low income area of Tulsa, OK. I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in 2007. I am currently getting my Master's Degree in Technology. During my "free time," I teach professional development opportunities in technology and the common core to school districts around my state. I spend my summers taking professional development workshops and working as a Scoring Director with Pearson. As a scoring director, I train teachers to assess national board exams and then manage and supervise the scoring.
I like to do hands-on activities with my students. I use a lot of technology and like to do lots of project-based and problem-based learning.
I am Nationally Board Certified.
I got my undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri. I majored in Broadcasting and Film and minored in Theatre. I spent 2 years working as a paraprofessional working with students that have special needs. I decided to go back to school to get certified to teach. I received my certification from Ottawa University at Kansas City. About 18 months ago, I began my Master's Degree in Technology at Walden University. I will finish in March.
My husband and I have been married for almost 4 years. Between us, we have 3 children. We have guardianship of my husband's exwife's oldest daughter. My husband has one daughter with his exwife, and I adopted a little boy before my husband and I started dating. I was foster mom to my little guy. I got him when he was 6 weeks old, so he's basically been mine from birth.
