I have taught Language Arts grades 8-11 in both traditional and alternative schools in the Midwest. I am currently teaching reading strategies in 7th and 8th grade. I am a teacher researcher, human rights educator, and restorative justice Circle Keeper. I love involving my students in literature, hands on learning and social justice education. I am the author of "Re-engaging Disconnected Youth: Transformative Learning Through Restorative and Social Justice Education" (Peter Lang, 2011). I am grounded in a multicultural education and social justice foundation.
I utilize Kagan cooperative learning strategies and lead a student centered classroom. I am a teacher researcher who constantly uses qualitative and quantitative data to adjust my practice.

I studied English and Theatre Arts at the University of North Dakota. I studied education at Augsburg University and received my MAed from Hamline University.
I love kayaking, reading, writing and spending time with my family.
