Hello! I'm Amy Greenbank, a professional artist, children's book illustrator, and art teacher. In the past, I taught general education in each 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. At the moment, I teach art classes online and am excited to have the chance to connect with kids from all over the country!
I believe that the best way for kids to be creative is to let them create. They have great imaginations, and when we allow them freedom to use them, their confidence and skill levels flourish. I want my students to learn to think for themselves, so I will not take over the pencil to make it "right" or help them finish more quickly. Making mistakes is part of making art. My goal is to make art accessible to everyone, and provide teachers with an imaginative way to let kids create in the classroom.
I am author and illustrator of: Draw, Doodle, Use Your Noodle, a complete-the-picture book for kids of all ages. Meet the Type 1 DiaBitsies, a fun introduction to type 1 diabetes, which turns diabetic supplies into friendly, colorful characters. I became a board certified teacher in 2005. In 2008, I became a "model teacher" and was trained to model best practice literacy instruction for fellow teachers.
Bachelors degree in elementary education from Western Illinois University, with a minor in music
