I taught 3rd grade for one year, 5th grade for one year, and 4th grade for 13 years. I was the head of an after school program for 2 years. I have served as a cooperating teacher for student teachers. I have also been an active National Education Association member.
Variety is the spice of life! I believe in multiple methods - whole class, small group, workshop model, centers, and using technology in innovative ways. Differentiation of instruction is extremely important and a strength of mine. I believe in keeping the students mobile, lessons should vary from fun and engaging...to peaceful, quiet working time.
I taught at a National Blue Ribbon School. I was very proud to attend a trip to the ceremony and workshops in Washington DC with my principal and colleagues.
I attended the University of Bridgewater in Massachusetts. I have done some post grad work and love attending workshops and professional development. I have also hosted several student teachers in my classroom. I appreciated that people were there for me when I started learning about education and I love sharing my experience with others.
I live in a cozy house with my husband and our 2 cats, Ramsay and Anni. Other than education, my loves include photography, cooking and trying new restaurants (we follow a Paleo lifestyle), exercising (running and boxing), the beach, traveling, cats, reading, baseball (go Sox!) and spending time with family and friends.
