I have been employed as an educator for six years but I have been teaching all my life. I love letting the creativity flow and making lessons come alive. I deeply enjoy seeing the students get excited about what they are doing and then making real world connections with the content. I have worked to develop teacher friendly data collection tools, Response to Intervention support and training, and units centered around the Common Core Curruiculum. I have written and presented education reform proposals that have been reviewed and received favorably by the Georgia Department of Education. I currently work as a 2nd grade teacher with the possibilities of future leadership opportunities.
I am a very hands on, creative teacher. I believe that there should be purpose behind every activity and a measurable goal embedded in instruction. It is essential to have fun in the classroom but also to document the growth of my students. I am using meaningful data collection to constantly reflect on my teaching practices and make adjustments to my instruction to ensure all my students recieve the best I have in me.
Teacher of the Year 2010-11 Presenter at county wide conference Presenter at Teacher Leader conference Possible lab classroom for Common Core roll out this summer
My mom has been a teacher most of my life. In addition to the benefit of having a mother that brings rigor and fun into her classroom, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by excellent educators all my life. These men and women taught me that teaching is so much more than the ABC's but it is the heart and soul of our future.
All proceeds from the selling of my material here will go directly to supporting my efforts to adopt children and support the development of education internationally. Your help is so appreciated. I hope you enjoy my work!
