I am currently in my 17th year of teaching and my 6th year at first grade. I love teaching! Everyday is a new experience that teaches me just as much as I teach my students if not more.
I teach in small groups as much as possible. I love centers. I believe that manipulatives not only engage students but allow them to understand topics at a deeper level. I also believe that positive encouragement can be your greatest power in the classroom.
Walmart Teacher of the Year
I graduated with my BA from the University of Northern CO in 2000 with a major in elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics. I received my masters from Walden University in 2009 with a degree in math.
I am a mother of two! I love being a mom. I was lucky enough to get to work part-time for seven years while I stayed home part-time with my babies. My children are now in third grade and first grade so I am full-time again as well. Being a mom is the best job and teaching is a close second! :) I am also blessed to be married to my best friend and soul mate. I also have a blog. Please check it out! http://wearefirstgraders.blogspot.com/
