My first job as an educator, was taking over a Title I Reading Teaching position for a maternity leave for the last few months of that school year. The next school year I was hired as a 3rd grade teacher and taught at that level for 9 wonderful years! I absolutely loved teaching 3rd grade. Then I was asked to move up to teach 4th grade, and I embraced the change! Last year was my 5th year teaching 4th grade and I am loving it!!!! This is my 15th year teaching in Massachusetts! I have experience with many ELL students, many with no English; also with Special Educational students including dyslexia and autism; not to forget those challenging students with ODD.
I am not your traditional teacher. I am firm, have high expectations, and believe that learning can be FUN! You will often find me laughing with my students. I believe a strong connection with my students is crucial for them to succeed. They need to know that I believe in them!
My past students come visit me every year! I always get former students stopping by to say hi at open house. A few students that have moved send me letters in the mail and older students out of high school come back to check in. Those are the best honors or awards any teacher could receive!
