I teach high school students a subject they detest. Because of this, they are always looking for ways to be out of my classroom rather than in it. To combat their excuses, I developed a hall pass plan in which they each get 4 passes to use

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

All of my experience is teaching deaf and hard of hearing students. I have been an itinerant teacher, an elementary teacher, and now enjoy teaching middle and high school reading. I'm constantly modifying my assignments to fit my students' individual academic and communication needs.

MY TEACHING STYLE

While I teach reading to my deaf/hard of hearing students, my main focus is empowerment. Empowering the students to continue to be learners after they leave my classroom enables them to be valuable citizens who have the ability to contribute to the world around them. Empowering them to advocate for their own needs enables them to identify who they are, what they need, and how to get it. Empowerment is a way to success in the outside world.
