Since 1993 I have worked exclusively in the area of Business English, training professionals and business people, designing curricula, materials, tests and follow-ups, and planning and implementing tailored courses. I realized that adults working in a foreign language need to be trained to become autonomous users and be able to DO in the foreign language rather than ´know ´ it. I created the highly innovative LEAPS teaching methodology, known for generating linguistic autonomy and meeting the needs of today’s global pools of talents. The team I lead teaches English and Spanish as a foreign language. At university level, I teach Second Language Acquisition and also Knoweldge of Language. A combination of training professionals and intense research have helped maintain an ideal balance between theory and practice. My research interests include adult second language acquisition and the generation of linguistic autonomy.
I am 101% oriented to giving learners tools to leave the classroom and readily use the foreign language (English or Spanish as a FL). That is why I design my own materials, which allows for a delivery that combines true communication, dynamic interactions, negotiation of meaning, proper grammar-meaning balance, activation, activation and activation! Foreign language learners value this enormously.
