"Memories in the Making" helps teachers create very unique memory books for their students that show their growth and how their learning progresses from the first day of school to the very end. This is by far not an "end of year" memory book. It is

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am just finishing my 14th year in education. Most of my experience is in kindergarten but I also taught first and second grades. I have remediation experience in grades K-5, as well as some classroom experience in 4th and 5th. I am endorsed to teach academically and intellectually gifted children. I am currently a K-5 instructional coach. My favorite subjects to teach are science and social studies. I enjoy teaching my students all about the world around them!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy is that children learn best when they feel safe. I try very hard to teach structure, routines, procedures....but most of all, I try to teach love and acceptance. Once students feel safe and valued in a classroom, they are free to take risks and then learning can truly occur. I believe in teaching content and having fun doing so. I like lots of music and movement in my classroom, while simutaneously building an understanding that rules must be followed. I also believe that it is certainly okay to respectfully question something/someone.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy/Language Arts for Early/Middle Childhood. I was selected this year as our school's "Teacher of the Year" and was the 2012 North Carolina Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year. I have been accepted to present at the state and national levels and enjoy doing so! I was also honored to receive model literacy classroom, and the local Wal-Mart "Teacher of the Year." I have been honored to receive grants for a variety of areas.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master's Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
