I taught Kindergarten for 21 years in Missouri in a progressive school district. After relocating our family to the sunny beaches of Florida for a couple of years, we decided to come back home to our family and friends in the Midwest. Currently, I have a very unique life as an instructor. I teach at Horace Mann Laboratory School, on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. My current position is a combined class of 3rd and 4th grade students, as well as a practicum facilitator for prospective educators in the content areas of Reading/Language Arts and Math/Science and Social Studies. I also facilitate learning for students in Observation classes, as well as Methods classes. I've had opportunities to work with my "smalls" and my "talls" to teach the most effective, contemporary and up-coming educational strategies that are being offered through a teaching college - and my students get first-hand experience in my classroom.
I believe that all children can learn, and it is my responsibility to find their learning style. I am constantly singing to my students, most of the time very off-key,but they don't seem to mind. I feel that I am very patient, kind and know that my students feel very safe in my classroom. I am a contemporary educator who believes in introducing new teaching concepts and ideas in my classroom, and sharing those ideas with my peers.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Sam, for 25 happy years. We have 3 beautiful daughters, who are the light of my life, Emily, Katey and Natalie. I love to spend time with my family and my friends and I enjoy reading books. I spend as much of my free time traveling the country with my family. I enjoy picking up books written by local authors/illustrators, and sharing them with my students.
