TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a Texas schoolteacher since the 1995-96 school year, certified in both English and Social Studies (Composite) for high school. (I was also certified in Math and Physics, but those are now inactive.) Between 2003 and 2008 I was a high school social studies instructional specialist, which was very rewarding. I am now back in the classroom, happily teaching AP World History and AP US Government. I have taught almost every high school social studies core and elective course at least once, including many AP courses.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I don't think I've ever taught a course the same way twice. Although I make use of new ideas, new strategies, and new technology in my lessons, I strongly believe in teaching the skills that many people today would associate with a "traditional" classroom. But for me, "traditional" isn't a bad word. Throughout my experience, I've known many "traditional" teachers who were highly effective.
