Several years teaching in elementary classrooms. All of my years have been in charter schools. I've had to create many of my materials due to the lack of a curriculum. This is given me a strong understanding of creating standards based earning. I prefer creating materials that are best suited to my classroom needs. I work to meet the needs of all learners because a balanced education is most important.
I challenge students to be independent thinkers, to hold each other accountable, and to be stimulated and challenged thinkers/learners. I promote a community of understanding and appreciation. I am a firm believer in the social education of students so they can grow up as responsible and respectful citizens. I want all students to feel valued, the importance of hard work, and that in life there are consequences. The real-world is a challenging place and our students need to be ready to take on the challenges new to this generation.
World's Greatest (and Weirdest) Teacher....according to my class :)
I grew up as the unfocused, stressed student. I was not a strong test taker and I never felt completely challenged at the same time. So, I'm aware of the needs of the learner and model my classroom as I place when I know I would've been successful.
My dad's hard work and dedication plus my mom's nurturing and creativity inspired me to be my best while following my heart.
