Mrs. Massie has been teaching reading on some level since 1999. She began her career in Carrollton as a first grade teacher in the fall of 1999 after graduating from Central Methodist College (now Central Methodist University) in Fayette, Missouri. Her experience at Carrollton led her to teaching first grade in Brunswick where her home and her family lived at the time. Mrs. Massie taught first grade for two more years while coaching basketball and then her first son was born. After the first year of coaching and teaching as a mom, she decided to stay home and raise her son(s). While staying at home, she worked as a Parents as Teachers Educator. Mrs. Massie worked with Parents as Teachers until her youngest son was a year old. The following school year, she was asked to take a position with the Brunswick School District as a Literacy Coach. She thoroughly enjoyed her job as a Literacy Coach because it enabled her to work with all learners and teachers! The training she received fueled her desire to continue in the field of teaching reading even after the grant that funded this job was up. She was soon employed in the Marshall School District as a 6th grade Communication Arts and Reading teacher in 2007. She currently serves as an Instructional Coach at Bueker Middle School in the Marshall Public School District. She and her sons live in Marshall and they love calling Marshall their home!
I try to incorporate all learning styles in my lessons and delivery of lessons throughout a unit.
