Some of my students with autism are working on building up their matching skills. I created this document to be used as a file folder game so kids can practice matching pictures of actions (as opposed to pictures of objects, which is easier).

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching self-contained special education since 2010. Our classroom is a highly structured setting dedicated to supporting K-3rd graders with Autism and other low-incidence disabilities. Our focus is on academic skills as well as the development of language and communication skills, social skills, and self-help skills. An emphasis is placed on maintaining appropriate behavior and developing independent skills through the use of structure and visual supports. Many of our students go to at least one academic class with their general education peers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I make heavy use of individualized and classroom schedules and visuals to promote student independence.
