TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I love to tutor students of all ages and to write creative math activities! For 30 years before retirement, I managed math textbook projects and wrote supplemental activities for major textbook publishers. Since then, I've written clear and concise goals checklists and related resources for K-8 math. The checklists are a great reference for parents and teachers, including TpT sellers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I ask students a lot of questions to help THEM figure out what to do. I often use matching games to help students match numbers, models, and expressions. The three graphs in my store banner are based on hundreds of my own observations of students in Grades K-8 who were using printed Multi-Match card games.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

While working as an editor for Prentice Hall, I received the "Way-to-Go" Award for work on development of a mathematics skills intervention kit.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from The Ohio State University. Licensed in Ohio to teach Elementary 1-8 and Mathematics 7-12. Additional coursework on developing performance assessments.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

• Extensive past experience for major educational publishers as writer, editor, or consultant for both "reform" and traditional math textbooks and supplements

• Highly familiar with K-8 state math standards and assessments; experienced in summarizing assessments and creating comparison documents and correlations for major publishers

• Supervisory experience in writing, editing, and programming of practice and assessment items for computerized test banks for major publishers

• Thousands of hours of independent tutoring for students in elementary grades through college.
