ABOUT THE GRAPHS IN THE STORE BANNER: The three graphs are based on hundreds of my own observations of students in Grades 1-8 who were using printed Multi-Match card games. Most students were working at or below grade level. ***ENGAGEMENT*** Students were directly engaged with the content about 80% of the time during games, but only about 60% of the time while doing worksheets. ***JUSTIFYING CHOICES*** Students using card games compared to worksheets had at least twice as many opportunities to justify choices and discuss those choices with others. (This is an important mathematical practice for Common Core.) ***ENJOYMENT*** When given a choice to practice using a worksheet or a game, more than 90% of students chose the game. More students enjoy math while using game cards. EXPERIENCE: In addition to having taught and tutored mathematics for 5+ years, I have 30+ years of curriculum development experience with K-12 publishers! I'm currently writing and tutoring independently. Please review my high-quality easy-to-learn games and other products!
TEACHING STYLE: I use matching games to help students match numbers, models, and expressions. Models provide the link between real world problems and abstract calculations. That's why models are mentioned so often in the Common Core math standards!
HONORS/AWARDS: While working as an editor for Prentice Hall, I received the "Way-to-Go" Award for work on development of a mathematics skills intervention kit. I was Project Editor for Scott Foresman's Wide World of Mathematics, a video and software program for grades 7-12. This product received a Technology & Learning Magazine Software Award of Excellence.
