I taught for a few years at the elementary school level before I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I am now a full-time stay at home mom who very much misses being in a classroom surrounded by students. I always actually enjoyed creating my own PowerPoints based on the Standards of Learning (SOL) so that I knew what needed to be taught was being provided.
When I was teaching, I always tried to be hands-on and use activities that would require my students to move around as much as possible. As teachers, we know that sometimes this can become quite chaotic, but my students always enjoyed getting up and moving around. I also loved teaching by using PowerPoints with a lot of graphics and images of what was being taught because many, if not all, of my students had very little knowledge of events, places, and people outside of their community. It was always wonderful watching their faces light up in awe, surprise, and wonder when they saw something they never knew about before and the images always encouraged discussion and curiosity.

After four years of college, I graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Afterward I jumped right into my Masters of Science degree and one year later, received my M.S diploma.
I married into the Navy life in 2012 and though it does present many challenges, I love it and my husband all the same. I have a beautiful daughter who just lights up my world and I cannot wait until she grows up and is old enough to start school.
