TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have three years teaching experience in grades six and nine. My experience spans learning levels and intelligence types.I have taught in a small academy, an average middle school, and the largest high school in the district. I spent one year working in an academy for struggling readers. I have taught inclusion, regular and honors level courses.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love creativity in the classroom. I keep choice present in my classroom, but I also focus on scaffolding and structure. I offer activities that enable students to learn material while simultaneously expressing their own opinions and talents. My expectations are always high. I challenge my students and I expect them to rise to the occasion to meet my high standards. My activities are pretty simple. I am not a bells and whistles teacher. I think students should learn to master skills needed to succeed in the real world as easily and quickly as they can.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in English and minors in business and Spanish. I continued my education by earning a Masters in Teaching (Secondary English Education) from Wake Forest University. I have continued my educational journey by taking additional graduate classes, by going to professional development seminars, and by attending local and national conferences. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama.
