I taught art to grades 1-6 for 22 years. Sadly, I had to take disability retirement long before my ideas stopped flowing. I still find myself creating projects in my head, and now, with TpT, I have a place for those new ideas to materialize. TpT has also given me an opportunity to share my numerous original and successful lesson plans developed over those 22 years of teaching.
Hands on-totally creative. My classroom has a positive atmosphere, where children are happy and feel good about themselves whether they possess artistic talent or not. It is a place where the teacher projects an "anything is possible-you CAN do it" philosophy. Art projects are often correlated with the classroom curriculum, so lesson plans can also be used in the grade level classroom or home school. "ART ACTION" is always happening, always learning, and always having fun!. It is busy hands in a busy classroom where lot of learning is taking place.
Dow Chemical Excellence in Teaching Award and numerous grants to provide art enrichment programs for the students and staff. I was chosen to teach additional seminars to system wide staff and children's groups. During my 22 years of teaching, I also received extensive newspaper coverage and photos of projects and art show events.
BS in Education-visual arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Extensive continued post graduate education.
My goal, throughout my teaching career, was to be a creative, quality, motivational art teacher. I always presented my original lessons in a positive, happy, "well disciplined but free" classroom environment. I was always striving to bring out the very best, while giving the child a satisfying learning experience.
