TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am just finishing up my seventh year teaching both Art and Math at the high school level. I have extensive experience as a graphic designer and freelance artist. I love to draw, illustrate, paint, and create! You could say that I was classically trained in the arts with a breadth of experience covering many traditional medias and techniques.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach the arts as a communicable language. Everyone has ideas and I love the joy and satisfaction that comes from being able to accurately share those ideas. My teaching style is centered around helping my students to feel comfortable sharing their ideas through the arts. I love art that is purposeful and directed (don't get me wrong, everyone needs a crazy, spontaneous paint day now and then).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have received many grants and awards for both my work and the work of my students. We have a very successful art program at our school offering a sequence of five art classes including an AP Portfolio submission for seniors. My biggest award is seeing my students finally becoming comfortable sharing their ideas through the arts!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have my BAE-Fine Arts. I have since added a math endorsement and I do enjoy teaching the occasional math class.
