TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an Art Educator for over 11 years. My experience includes PreK-8, but for the past 8 years, I have been working in an Intermediate School, which is grades 4 and 5. After school I teach dance and yoga, as well as lead an after-school Kids Yoga Club!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Students in my classes learn about the Elements of Art, artists from different cultures and time periods, and work in different media such as drawing, painting, and sculpture. I believe each student has his or her own artistic abilities. I encourage my students to engage with creative thinking, to appreciate art, and to discuss art. I believe the visual arts play an intrinsic part in our everyday lives, as they are vital to our learning and our well-being.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold a Masters in Fine Art Education and a BFA in Graphic Design. Before I became an art teacher, I worked as a graphic designer. I also have minor studies in Art History and Dance. I studied art history in Florence, Italy and lived there for a summer. My favorite period in art history is the Renaissance!
