I have over 6 years of teaching experience both in NYC and in China. I am primarily an ESL teacher, but I currently teach multi-level ESL, Art, AP Art and ELA Regents Prep. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.). After graduating, I moved to Shenzhen, China where I taught EFL for 3 years. Coming back to the states, I went back to college and obtained another Bachelors in Chinese Language and Literature, as well as my Master's Degree in TESOL Education from Hunter College. I am triple certified to teach ESL, Art and English. I work at an amazing school that lets me do all the things that I love. I'm incredibly lucky to be able to say I love what I do for a living.
I am both laid-back and no nonsense. This is definitely an oxymoron, but I believe that there is a balance that is needed. The current school that I work in is a transfer high school, meaning the average age of the students is 17-21. These students, for various reasons, are limited in their time to complete high school. I work fast and expect a lot, because I know they are capable. But, I also leave time to just talk with the students, and get to know them individually. This building of rapport goes far when I ask them to tackle something new that might be intimidating.
