I am an experienced 25+ yr. teacher. I have taught primarily in the elementary, teaching most subjects. I also have been an art teacher for the last 6 years and am now phasing myself out of teaching and into retirement. I feel that it's very important for seasoned teachers to mentor and give back to the field of education by passing on their knowledge and expertise. I have had many student teachers and now plan on selling some of my favourite lessons on TpT as well as having many freebies on my site. In the words of Willian Shedd "A ship in harbour is safe but that's not what ships are built for."
My teaching style is definitely student centred. My students play an active role in their learning. A big part of the active learning in my classroom has come through using art. I not only have a passion for art but know that weaving art thr' the curriculum can enhance all students' learning in all subject areas. The role of art can teach, can reinforce, can practise, can be used to respond, to represent and also to assess. ART has a place in all our classrooms.....
I have co-authored two books 'Read A Book, Write A Book' and 'Make A Book' I have been part of our Language Arts Provincial exam marking professionals' group. I have been a presenter at at the U of C Faculty of Education as a guest speaker. I have been a presenter at various Teacher conventions.
