I have more than ten years of experience teaching elementary/primary visual arts classes to students from preK to 8th grade.
As a long time elementary art educator working both publicly and privately, I work with students at all levels including early childhood, students with disabilities and English Language Learners. Creating authentic art experiences that have many levels of access is my specialty. Authentic art lessons like mine, create academic connections with rich possibility of extension and exploration. My lessons can easily be applied and adapted to many levels of students.
I have presented lessons for Tennessee Arts Academy at Belmont University, Nashville TN and Metro Nashville School District. Grants include the National Endowment for Humanities, Picturing America as well as a local grant from the Educational Enrichment Foundation.
I am a graduate of Pratt Institute with a degree in Fine Arts.
I’ve been inspired countless times by the internet based art teacher community and find myself eager to give back. Whether it’s with another teacher in my school(s) or an idea shared between art teachers, I am excited by collaboration. The end goal always being to create vibrant, engaging lessons that spark the creative fire in my students. I love to incorporate cross curricular connections, especially literacy connections within my art lessons!
