14 years as a visual art teacher in public schools. 7 years as art director at Columbia Gorge Peace Village. Developed an AP 2D Design curriculum resulting in a 100% passing rate with scores of 3, 4, or 5. My students have earned numerous awards including Scholastic Art Awards at the local and national level and Adobe Youth Voices Awards. Have taught Drawing, Painting, 2D Design, Ceramics, Sculpture, AP Studio Art: 2D Design, AP Studio Art: 3D Design, and AP Studio Art: Drawing.
Fun with high expectations for awesomeness, authentic expression, and work with meaningful content. Every student has an artist within. I set the bar high for all students and they rise to the challenge. My specialties are AP Studio Art, Advanced High School Art and Drawing. I embed every project with a communication/self expression component so even the smallest assignment builds students' personal voice. I love helping students develop a strong body of work. I also love helping students who desire to go to art school create a strong portfolio. My absolute favorite thing is guiding students who never thought they were artists into award winning artists with powerful art.
Awarded the College Board Western Regional Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts for the AP Studio Art: 2D Design curriculum I created which utilizes digital photography exclusively and has resulted in 100% passing rate in classes that are 45% low income and minority. I created the class to create equity and access to AP.

I have a pretty quirky history which I believe helps me honor each student's unique history and find their own authentic voice. I'm half Egyptian, half Caucasian-American and spent my childhood stretched between those two worlds. Art became a way for me to express my experience of being a cultural hybrid and find my place in the world.
