As a veteran high school art teacher of over 20 years I love using art to engage students' hearts and minds and generate curiosity in our selves and our world. In my time teaching I have developed curriculum for drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, open studio, photography, digital media and more! I also work using a choice based approach with many graphic organizers to help guide the artistic thinking process.
I began my career as a founding teacher for a new charter school which is still going strong. As a result, I have created lots of lessons from scratch and love to introduce new artists and ideas into my classroom. My lessons emphasize conceptual development and process as well as provide support for technical skills. I especially look to contemporary artists for inspiration.
