TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over 20 years in the classroom as a K-8 art teacher as well as yearbook advisor/journalism teacher and piloting the first STEAM class in our middle school incorporating art, technology and science. I taught a variety of mediums to all grade levels:drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and silk painting to name a few. Before going into the classroom I was a full-time graphic designer with my own firm, which became freelance during the teaching years. I worked with the Nutrition Network group in California producing nutrition-related products for elementary schools.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Albert Einstein said, "Creativity is contagious, pass it on." That is what I've always attempted to do in my teaching - encourage and excite. Creativity sometimes takes courage and I believe students of all ages need to be enticed to create and show their inner self. Throughout my teaching history I've worked to incorporate all the subject disciplines through my art projects. I believe student learning is enforced when learning is "repackaged" with creativity.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Recognized in Orange County Art Educator of Year awards. Over the years had hundreds of students win art contests, receive recognition in local and state-wide exhibitions, and had numerous student exhibit at the Laguna Festival of Arts.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A. in Art from Chapman University (minor in Business), Teaching Credential from Cal State Fullerton.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Married to wonderful husband for 34 years and have one very creative son. My husband and I enjoy cooking, creating together and traveling in our 19 ft. Airstream trailer.
