TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Elementary & middle school art teacher at the American School of Bangkok (ASB) in Thailand. •Guide students through the "teaching for artistic behavior" (TAB) approach •Integrate technology and art using the iPad for visual instruction •Facilitate exhibitions and charity auctions for art sales (KIS Charity Art Competition; 1 student titled finalist winner) •Mentor students in terms of their artwork in an International Art Competition: TIMOTCA PostCards From The World, “My Dream of Peace” •Download student artwork to Artsonia (children’s digital museum platform) & Creatubbles •Lead yearbook publication task force and club •Plan and implement student fieldtrips to interactive art museums •Coordinate student art exhibition at Bangkok Hospital

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy on teaching is to promote a student- centered approach in a choice-based environment. I follow the TAB curriculum, involving demos, artist introductions, stations, and a myriad of differentiated resources. I also teach through a mindfulness approach encouraging students to pay attention to their art thinking and art making to foster their self-awareness. I believe in using many visuals, body movements, and sound in order to teach art.
