I have been teaching Special Education for 10 years, and in the field of Autism for 7. My experience includes teaching dual diagnosis students in treatment settings and consulting for other teachers, and most recently I have started up a brand new Community Class teaching students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6 with Autism.
My teaching style has to reflect the types of students I am teaching. Due to different personalities, ages and cognitive levels of my students, I am constantly adapting my teaching style to complement their needs.
My greatest honour comes from the successes and accomplishments within my classroom. Even the smallest of successes can make a very tough day worth it!
I attended McMaster University for English Literature, and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland for my teaching degree in Primary Education. I have my specialist in Special Education.
Check out my Twitter page @asd_teach for more ideas on how I implement my resources into my daily teaching and advocate for my students.
