After graduating with my degree from the University of Central Florida, I began my career in an administrative position. I quickly realized that I wanted to make more of an impact, so I decided to go back to school to earn my education degree. During this time, I worked as a tutor and a substitute teacher to get as much experience as possible with a variety of grade levels. I was then hired to teach 3rd grade in a Title 1 elementary school. I have taught 3rd grade in this setting for four years.
My style of teaching has evolved over time. During my first year of teaching I quickly learned that strong classroom management is vital to the success of any classroom, particularly when working in more challenging schools like mine. After gaining much more confidence with my classroom management strategies, I was able to teach in a more creative and fun way that engaged the brains of my students. I found that high student engagement and strong classroom management work together to create a happy classroom environment!
