I am a general music and chorus teacher. I currently teach for the Fairfax County Public School system located in Northern Virginia and have previously also taught in Washington, DC. Additionally, I am a musicianship teacher for the Fairfax Choral Society's Youth Education program.
My teaching style is based upon the Kodály method. I am passionate about teaching children to make music and the power of music literacy. I strive to create lessons that fit the needs of every student in my classroom while also having a good time! I hope that my students not only have a deep understanding of musical concepts and skills, but also learn to love making music :-).
I currently serve on the board of the Virginia Organization of Kodály Educators at Treasurer.
I received a Bachelor's of Music Performance from James Madison University, and a Kodaly certificate and my Master of Education in Kodaly Music Education from Loyola University Maryland.
When I'm not teaching, I love trying out new restaurants, experimenting with new recipes (I have a terrible sweet tooth!), traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with my wonderful husband.
