I am a National Board Certified Teacher, with 30+ years in education. I have taught in the DC Public School system for close to 20 years. Prior to that, I taught at a Catholic School. I began my career in small daycare centers, a university-run child development center, and a small private school in Washington, DC. I have taught grades PreK through grade 4. I have also been on the adjunct faculties of Prince George's Community college, and American University.
I have a hands-on and sensory approach to teaching. I use various methods, such as lectures, workshops, experiments, and small cooperative groups. If I am teaching a particular subject, I make cross-curricular connections with other subject areas. I believe that children, especially, need to use all of their senses to give them a deeper understanding of all of their subjects.
