Hello, and welcome to our store! We are Annette, Geoff and Rachel. We live in Western Australia and work together to create fun ways to capture the interests of all children, and encourage them to enjoy the learning process, no matter what their learning style may be.
We love teaching hands-on inquiry or discovery learning and recommend that parents teach using an integrated or thematic approach in which learning across a broad range of topics ties the subject together in a meaningful way. Education should be both purposeful and supported so that children experience the joy of learning.
Annette has been nominated for National Excellence in Teaching Awards in Year 2002. Annette has also been selected on merit as Curriculum Writer/Designer for Schools of Isolated and Distance Education.
Annette graduated from Murdoch University 1977 with a BA in teaching. Geoff has a Diploma of Teaching, HC, Bachelor of Education and is an ex-Principal. Rachel has a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering specialising in Diesel Fuel Injection Systems. She has since left this field to raise her children at home and home-school her eldest daughter.
Annette has taught classes across all grades from Prep to Yr 7, mentored and supervised teachers in training, and tutored children from prep to Yr10 in reading. She has also taught phonics to adults and has written curriculum for Schools of Isolated and Distance Education. In 2007 Annette and Geoff started a business supporting home-school parents. As part of the homeschool support Annette has written several support books for parents including thematic curriculum planning, how to teach phonics (reading and spelling) and teaching beginner readers using a language experience approach. Geoff has written songs for children and recorded rhyming stories. Annette has a passion for helping parents with children experiencing difficulty reading and spelling or who have beginner readers. Geoff has been a classroom teacher, deputy principal and principal and has taught from junior primary to adult literacy. He tutors, mentors and supports home-school families and writes and records his own original music for both children and adults and stories for children. They are currently raising their grandson whom they home-school (PrePrimary year level). Rachel is Annette's daughter and has 4 children of her own, one of which has high functioning Autism. Autism and Special Needs Education has since become a passion for Rachel, who is always seeking different ways of assisting her daughter with her life and education. While Rachel has no formal teaching qualifications, she home-schools her eldest daughter and loves creating fun educational activities for her other children.
