TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 9th year teaching special education. It is my fifth year teaching autistic support. Special education is truly my passion. I have also facilitated several professional developments for teachers and support staff. During the summer I am the special education coordinator at an inclusion-based summer camp.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Differentiate, differentiate, differentiate!!! Incorporate lots of hands-on learning and sensory-based activities. Keep your data! Set up a great centers/ rotation schedule...just a few ideas! Overall, I believe in individualized instruction across settings. Every child can learn, and no child learns in the same way. I always keep an open-mind and think outside of the box. If a child isn't learning, I change my approach. Always keep an open mind and an open heart <3

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

*2013/2014 Autism Teacher of Excellence Award *Honored as an "Expert Teacher for Autistic Support" *Presented professional development to other staff members in regards to the function and treatment of challenging behavior and Autism Spectrum Disorders
