I have been working with students on the Autism Spectrum for over five years. I have worked for Special Education Associations/Co-Ops with low incident students. I have also spent my summers doing in home therapy working with severe children and spend my weekends volunteering with Special Olympics, Make A Wish, and (recently) Red Kite. I also teach in a self-contained K-3 classroom and LOVE IT! My students always amaze me at how they overcome obstacles! They jazz me up so I do everything I can to JAZZ THEM!
My teaching style is behavior analysis and positive supports based. I believe firmly in being the change first, so I strive to be the best teacher that I can be for my students, my colleagues, and myself. My classroom is comprised of K-3 students that have Autism Spectrum Disorder as a primary diagnosis. My classroom is very visual, tactile, and multi sensory based. I spend a great deal of time working with my paraprofessionals and colleagues to ensure that my students' needs are met. I collaborate with colleagues consistently and I believe that it takes a whole school to graduate a student!
